What we are learning:
READING-- In December, we will begin discussing the difference between a statement and a question. We will continue to work on letter recognition, sight words, making connections, and tracking words with
1 to 1 correspondence.
Letters taught (Aa, Cc, Dd, Ee, Ff, Hh, Ii, Ll, Mm, Nn, Oo, Pp, Ss, Tt,)
Words taught (I, a, it, the, see, can, in, is, on, at, am, me, did, do)
Writing--We continue to write letters and words using the correct letter formation. We will continue to label pictures by writing the letters for the sounds they hear in the words (label pictures. When labeling, students should be able to write the beginning letter and are learning to write other medial and final consonants sounds as well. We are learning that sentences begin with capital letters, that words must be in an order that makes sense, and that we use a space between each word. As we learn about statements and questions, we will also look at ending punctuation.
Math--This month we will be counting 1-70, counting by 10s, extending and creating simple patterns (AB, ABC, and ABB). We will continue to review number recognition 1-15, shape recognition, coin recognition (penny, nickel, and dime), and positional words.
Social Studies--In December, we will be learning how people change and how people can change the Earth.
Science--In December we will learn about changes in weather and the seasons. We will also discuss patterns and shapes found in nature.
