Dear Marumsco Hills Elementary School Families:
It is hard to believe that we have a few weeks left until the magic begins once again at Marumsco Hills. I am honored to start a brand new year with such bright students and caring families. I would like to share with everyone that we met all of the Federal Annual Measurable Objectives (AMO) as set forth by the state and continue to be fully accredited. This is a true testament of the hard work and dedication that both our teachers and families commit to daily to help our students succeed. We truly value your support and partnership in your child’s education.
As an instructional leader, I believe in cultivating a positive and safe school climate that promotes learning and inspires collaboration between parents, students, and teachers. I firmly believe in our school's vision, "High Achievement and Personal Success for All." With your assistance, we can continue to create an exciting learning environment where students are challenged, engaged in their learning, and exceed our expectations.
I am proud to say that I am a product of Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS). I graduated from C.D. Hylton High School with honors. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a Master's degree in Education, and a Master's degree in Education Leadership from George Mason University. I have been working with PWCS for the past 10 years, where I have had the opportunity to experience both elementary and middle level education. I began my teaching career as an elementary Instructional Technologist with PWCS in 2004 where I taught students essential computer skills related to their learning in the core subjects. The love and passion I have to help students and teachers grow has allowed me to take on different administrative leadership roles. I have been an Instructional Coach, a Teacher on Administrative Assignment at the middle school level, and most recently, the assistant principal at Marumsco Hills Elementary School for the past four years.
On a personal note, I am happily married to a wonderful man who also works in PWCS as a high school Health & Physical Education teacher. We have two beautiful children that keep us very busy. Our little girl is three years old and our son is ten months old. We live in Dumfries and love to spend quality family time together at the park, visiting with friends and family, and sightseeing around the nation's capital. One of my favorite things is to see one of my students or parents at the grocery store or out in the community. So if you see me, please stop me and say hello.
I am thrilled to start the new school year! We have an outstanding staff at Marumsco Hills and with your help we will continue to create a dynamic learning environment where students are challenged, engaged in their learning, and exceed all expectations. Take care and enjoy the rest of your summer!
